Is Telephone Counseling Right for You?
Telephone Counseling is different from counseling and psychotherapy in that it is very goal oriented. Along with the convenience and comfort of having sessions from your own home, counseling over the telephone can be the right fit for those with busy lives. Some clients have reported feeling a sense of safety they might not otherwise have found. This form of counseling is well suited for dicovering and implementing changes that lead to less stress or anxiety, clearer communication, career direction, activating creativity, relationship clarity, and healing from personal shame. Clients often seek out counseling to free themselves from certain life-limiting patterns or emotional blocks. Counseling can also address time-limited issues such as going through a life transition or removing emotional blocks that cause making decisions to be filled with confusion, anxiety, shame, or depression.
Some clients will call to address a counseling matter but discover deeper issues arise. If this happens together we will reasses your goals and options, giving you the lead to decide how much you feel is safe to explore over the phone and how muh would be better suited in seeking out an appropriate psychotherapistin your area to start working with.
How it works: finding out about your needs.
To understand your situation I may ask questions about your concerns; explore how your issues are impacting your life, and what are some of your goals. You can choose the pace at which you want to go. This means you can slowly address your issues, or you can choose to share your problems in your initial phone session.
Exploring your thoughts and feelings in phone counseling will identify some of the key blocks limiting your happiness, and help guide you to resolving those blocks. Providing you with the knowledge and tools to deal more effectively with your life challenges. You may be given homework or other avenues to further continue your exploration beyond the phone call. Counseling is most effective when clients are motivated to change.
I offer a free ten-minute telephone assessment for you to get to know me and for us to explore your counseling needs.
